Sonic the Hedgehog is an LCD game created by Tiger Electronics. The background drawing features Marble Zone from its 16-bit counterpart.
The console features a directional pad on the left, and a button to perform a "Super Sonic Spin" on the right. It also contains four function buttons to turn off the system, toggle sound effects, pause the game, and a button that both turns on the system and starts the game. Unlike most Sonic games, jumping is triggered by pressing the directional arrow.
