Sonic and the Secret Rings: Trial Version for the Wii is a free demo disc that was offered to 1,000 people in Japan who registered via Famitsu by 10 PM February 23rd, 2007.
According to Famitsu, four zones are available to play in the Adventure mode of the demo. These stages are Lost Prologue, Sand Oasis, Dinosaur Jungle, and Evil Foundry. There are eight stages in the Lost Prologue to help the player learn the game and controls. Various skills on the skill ring can be activated, about 20 types in all.
