The Caterkiller, called Nal (ナール) in the Japanese Manual, is a caterpillar-esque badnik found in Marble Zone and Scrap Brain Zone that crawl along the ground. Spikes cover its body, leaving only one weak point—the head. Trying to destroy it from any other angle will make the badnik fall apart and send the pieces flying.
Caterkiller was the first in a whole series of segmented, crawling Eggman robots which appeared in the early 2D Sonic games. Later models include:
- Crawlton, from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (16-bit)
- Kemusi, from Sonic CD
- Catakiller, Jr., from Sonic 3
- A nameless worm-bot from Knuckles' Chaotix
Caterkiller in Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit).
Caterkiller in Sonic the Hedgehog (8-bit).
