Newtron is an enemy (Badnik) found in the video game, Sonic the Hedgehog. Newtrons are robots modelled after chameleons.Media:GD Sonic1 GDC2018 Enemies1.png[1] There are two versions of this enemy - green and blue.

Green Newtrons are stationary. They typically cling to walls, invisible, until player gets close. Then the sneaky machines de-cloak just long enough to fire a projectile from their mouths, before fading back into the background. Once vanished they cannot be destroyed.

Blue Newtrons behave similarly, but instead of firing a projectile they drop off the wall and transform into a ground-skimming missile! Given that they persist in this form - rather than turning invisible again later - they are much easier to destroy than the green Newtrons.

Both types of Newtron can be defeated with a spin attack, freeing the animal trapped inside.
