Sonic the Hedgehog - Remix is a single-disc album released by Alpha Music in conjunction with Sega. As hinted at by the title of the album, the CD is a collection of remixed tracks from the original Japanese soundtrack for Sonic the Hedgehog CD. Unlike some remix projects, each of the tracks were remixed and arranged by the two men responsible for the original songs, Naofumi Hataya and Masafumi Ogata, though they are only credited by nickname. Album art
The album cover features artwork by Kazuyuki Hoshino, visual designer for Sonic the Hedgehog CD and creator of Metal Sonic. The images were first seen as concept art for Sonic the Hedgehog CD.[2]
Content
Track 2, "Techno Power Mix", is an arranged mix of the original game's zone themes. Curiously, this medley includes a brief and otherwise-unheard arrangement of "DA Garden" (located between Palmtree Panic and Collision Chaos' arrangements), speculated to be a remnant of when the theme was used for the cut stage R2.[3]
History
An instrumental section of the track "Brand New World" is used in the 2011 re-release of Sonic CD, playing in the Time Attack menu and over the credits to those involved in the remake's production if the Japanese soundtrack has been selected.
