Sonic the Hedgehog is an original album released by German music label Arcade, with songs inspired by the world of Sonic the Hedgehog. Though an officially licensed product, the recording contains no music featured within any Sonic game titles before or since its release. The only connection to Sonic is the Sonic Chaos artwork used on the cover. The CD also contains a data track featuring bonus material accessible when placed into any CD-ROM drive. Included in this data was a music video for the first track on the album, "They Call Me Sonic," CD-Player software for the PC, and a playable demo of the STI-produced game Comix Zone.
"They Call Me Sonic" and "King of the Ring" were also released serparately as maxi-singles.
