The Red Volcano Zone boss is the third boss fought in Sonic Blast. It is an Egg Mobile outfitted with a spring and a wrecking ball.

Strategy

At the top of the third Act of Red Volcano Zone is a red and blue platform that will carry Sonic or Knuckles upwards to the boss arena. The platform will track Sonic and Knuckles' movements so the player is not at risk of falling at any point during the fight. Dr. Eggman attacks by using the boss machine's spring to bounce upward from the bottom right of the screen. At the apex of his jump, he will launch his wrecking ball in a straight diagonal line to punch the player, and will keep it outstretched as he falls back down. He will repeat this attack pattern from the left side of the screen, and then back from the right side, and so on.

The mech's only vulnerable area is the glass windscreen, which must be hit eight times in order for the boss to be defeated; hitting it anywhere else will just rebound the player without dealing any damage. Defeating this boss will allow Sonic and Knuckles to make a splash in Blue Marine Zone.
