Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure is a game from the Sonic the Hedgehog series for the short lived Neo Geo Pocket Color game system. The game is similar in level design and gameplay to Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for Sega Genesis. The levels are largely based of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 levels although some of them use adapted versions of graphics from other Sonic games. The music is based on a variety music from earlier Sonic games, including Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and the Sega Saturn version of Sonic Jam. It also included special features such as puzzles and multiplayer options.

This game is noteworthy for a number of reasons. First of all, it was the second Sonic game to be released for a non Sega console (the first game was Sonic Jam for the Tiger Game.com). It is also the last game to feature Sonic as the only playable character until the release of Sonic and the Secret Rings in 2007. It's also the only game to mix the current design of Sonic with his classic one. The in game graphics look similar to the classic style while up close he resembles his post Sonic Adventure design. Eggman also mixes up his style as the first levels he has his original design and he switches to his Sonic Adventure design once reaching the base.
