Blue Sphere Standalone ROM is a Sonic & Knuckles/Sonic the Hedgehog hack created by MainMemory. It is a standalone ROM which contains the game that is unlocked when Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic the Hedgehog are Locked-On. It also has a few extra features.
New Features
- Pressing , or now cycles between Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. Tails is represented by one blue and one red bumper.
- Now the player can select Sonic + Tails (one blue and one orange icon) and Knuckles + Tails (one red and one orange icon).
- SRAM support to remember the character selected.
- Now it remembers the last level completed, and starts at that level next time.
- Tails has orange icons on the title menu instead of one blue and one red.
- If holding while pressing to start a stage, the player starts all stages from then on at top speed (not saved between sessions).
- Also, it is possible to simply press at the NO WAY screen instead of holding ++ (that still works though).
Known Issues
- On real hardware every time a sound effect is played, it completely messes with the music, it sounds as though it's sped it up by x400 or something, and in time, just stops, no sound.
- The results screen crashes when the difficulty counter hits 7.
