Rocky (ロッキー), known as Joe Sushi in the West, is one of the animal friends imprisoned by Dr. Eggman for use as 'organic batteries' for his badnik army. Rocky's species is a seal and he was the inspiration for the character Rotor Walrus featured in Sonic the Hedgehog (TV series) and Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie comics).
According to the original Western Sonic lore, Joe Sushi taught Sonic the Hedgehog how to dive and swim.[1][2] This was retconned shortly afterwards - Sonic Jam for example specifically states Sonic can't swim.[3]
