The Western version replaces the warning screen with a "Winners Don't Use Drugs" screen.

The Japanese version displays story text during the attract mode opening sequence in English with Japanese subtitles. In addition to removing the subtitles, the Western version attempts to localise Dr. Eggman's name, humourously misspelling it as "Dr. Robotonic".
