Chris Hernandez is the associate manager of lore at Sega for Sonic the Hedgehog. He is part of the lore group Sega put together internally to oversee future media of the Sonic franchise to make sure the stories sync together more smoothly than in the past, and they expand on the characters already in the series. He started working at Sega in January of 2023, but the lore group itself was formed long before he became part of it. When asked if he was the "lore master" he explained he is "more like a librarian" and part of a team to help everyone. With the lore team everyone has a saying and what goes forward with the lore goes through Takashi Iizuka to make sure they are all still consistent with having just one Sonic.[1]
In the Sonic Official - Season 7 Episode 7 live stream he said his first video game ever was Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and he says he's always been very into the lore of the series. His top three games in the series are Sonic Generations, Sonic Mania and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. With Generations he said he was big on the forefront for speed runs of the game and enjoys seeing the Cyber Space levels speed runs for Sonic Frontiers.[1]
He also said he loves Tails and the Music Maker and Sonic's Schoolhouse. When asked what Sonic game is "most slept on" he said it was Sonic Battle. His favorite part of the lore he said was "what everyone's favorite food is." His favorite character is E-102 Gamma, but his favorite character still around is Dr. Eggman. His favorite character from the Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW comics) is Mr. Tinker.[1]
