Sonic Boom, also known in Japan as Sonic Toon (ソニックトゥーン), is a multimedia series encompassing games, animation and comics, and is largely considered a sub series of the grand Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The character designs and setting, which is considered in an alternative continuity to the prime series, have been adapted to target a younger, more Western audience.

Conceptual history

According to Stephen Frost, the idea of launching the TV Show, Wii U game and 3DS game at the same time was to give fans a big view of the new world and letting them choose which one piques their interest the most.[1]
