Launch Base Zone is yet another Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Zone where most of the differences revolve around Knuckles. The level layouts throughout both Acts are the same as in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Act 1

The background in Act 1 is a little glitchy in this build, flickering into a partially garbled mess as it scrolls. This occurs with all characters.

The teacup elevator poles at the end of Act 1 are not removed when playing as Knuckles.

For some reason, there is no sound effect when the Twin Hammers emerge from their containers for Knuckles' version of the fight, whereas the sound normally does play for Sonic and Tails' version of the fight. Also, as soon as Knuckles defeats one of the Twin Hammers, the normal Act 1 theme resumes while the other Twin Hammer is still alive.

After the Twin Hammers are defeated, Knuckles can find something strange in the corner of the area he lands in. This is a foreground chunk placed on the background layer, which overlaps the purple wall.

Act 2

If the player proceeds to Act 2 from Act 1 as Knuckles, the bubble graphics will be corrupted. This doesn't happen if the level was restarted or accessed via the level select. This was fixed later on.

A suspension pole near two submerged teacup elevators near the end of Act 2 isn't solid. It was made solid in later prototypes and the final to prevent Knuckles from riding the elevators and taking Sonic's path.

Knuckles only fights the Beam Rocket in this build. Once he defeats it, the capsule appears without the Big Arm appearing whatsoever, yet the boss music continues to play.
