Sonic DS is a 2010 proof of concept port by Stealth of Sonic 1, 2, and 3 & Knuckles for the DS. Sonic DS was originally made with hope of incorporation into the official release of Sonic Classic Collection as its core gameplay engine.

Although Sonic DS is an unfinished proof of concept, Sonic DS showcases a fully-playable port of the first level from Sonic the Hedgehog Megamix: a romhack to which Stealth also contributed. Most of the romhack's original features were faithfully ported to Sonic DS.

Bugs

  • Noticeable loading times when switching games, loading music, and special stages.
  • Drowning doesn't work.
  • Music from other games is played in the wrong game. For example Sonic 3 music in Sonic 1.
  • Broken graphics.
  • Waterfalls are broken.

Fixes

  • Fixed dying when going below the camera in Green Hill Zone Act 1.
  • Fixes the spike bug.
  • Can't climb on top of structures you aren't supposed to be able to in Sonic 1 with Knuckles.

Sonic 1

  • Green Hill Zone and only Act 1 of Labyrinth Zone without most objects are present.
  • Spindash is present.
  • Tails and Knuckles are playable.
  • Special Stages.

Sonic 2

  • Title Screen and some objects have corrupt graphics.
  • Only Emerald Hill Zone Act 1 is present
  • Special Stages.

Sonic 3

  • Angel Island Act 1 and 2 only and they both have very corrupt graphics.
  • No miniboss.
  • Blue Sphere now has a minimap on the bottom screen.

Sonic Megamix

  • Sunny Shores Zone is the only zone in the game
  • Homing Attack.
  • Light Speed Dash.
  • Special Stages.
