- Back to: Sonic Blast (Game Gear prototype 74).
General comparisons
There is no intro or title screen, instead the game goes to the level select upon starting the game. Upon first glance, you'll notice that Red Volcano Zone is called Red Volcanic Zone in this build. Additionally trying to access any zones after Red Volcanic Zone act 3 causes the game to crash.
The player select screen is very barebones in this build. It's text based only, and therefore lacks sprites for Sonic and Knuckles.
This build lacks title cards, as well as end of act title cards.
Act 2 of each zone has garbage data bellow the level.
After defeating the Volcanic Stage boss, one can use the debug to return to the original location of the boss to view what appears to be a bell like outline. This could possibly be a mistake made by SEGA during the development process.
Gameplay Comparisons
A Debug Mode is active. Holding will freeze character and allow the player to move him freely with the D-Pad.
Rings fly out when the player gets hit, but the counter doesn't deplete making it impossible to lose a life if the player is hit again.
