Sonic 1 Special Version is a hack of Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit) for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis created by EditChris. It is functionally similar to Sonic the Hedgehog Megamix, featuring new visuals, layouts, character abilities, and imports of music from various games, from Knuckles' Chaotix to Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I.
Controls
- //: Jump
- + //: Spin Dash. Functions the same as Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
- + //: Super Peel Out. Similar to the spin dash, but is slightly faster and leaves Sonic more vulnerable.
- / (in mid-air): Homing Attack. Homes in on enemies and monitors and destroys them.
- (in mid-air): Jump Dash.
Changes
- Each stage has an altered palette.
- Imported music for each act.
- New layouts (both normal levels and special stages)
- Bosses now take more hits, making them much more difficult.
- The game has an "Original Mode", which allows the player to play unaltered Sonic 1 levels with Sonic's new abilities.
- The level select is now the Sonic 2 version.
- A night and day mechanic similar to that of Chaotix.
- New HUD.
