- 1959 — Lew Stringer, one of the lead writers on Sonic the Comic, is born.
- 1996 — The second volume of the Sonic the Hedgehog OVA is made available as a rental-only VHS in Japan.
- 2000 — Issue #13 of the Sonic Super Special comic series is released in North America. Issue #177 of Sonic the Comic is released in the United Kingdom.
- 2006 — Issue #160 of the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series by Archie Comics, featuring the first story by longtime scribe Ian Flynn, is released in North America.
