History

Sonic the Hedgehog (film)

On the run from the Knuckles Clan, Longclaw gave Sonic a map to help travel to the Mushroom Planet if he ever found himself in danger. Sonic thought he might have needed to go to the planet after he was found by Dr. Robotnik, but realized later that he could simply send Robotnik to it instead. Donut Lord opened the ring portal to the planet, allowing Sonic to push Eggman through it and sending him to a hill full of mushrooms. However, Robotnik kept one of Sonic's quills with him, knowing it was the key to help him travel back to Earth.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (film)

Dr. Robotnik used his technology and Sonic's quill to send a single into space. Soon enough, it attracted the attention of Scavengers, along with Knuckles the Echidna. Robotnik managed to take out all the warriors in bird costumes, but knew he was no match for the red echidna. He realized instead he should team up with the alien so he could finally leave the Mushroom Planet.

Knuckles (Paramount TV series)

Upon seeing Knuckles the Echidna leaving Green Hills, Agent Willoughby and Agent Mason decided to take this moment to go off on their own. Agent Fairley told them they had to inform Commander Walters about Knuckles' trip, which convinced Mason and Willoughby to take their SAT surveillance offline and kick Agent Fairley through a ring portal to the Mushroom Planet.
