The Burst Dash was first introduced in Sonic Rush. By pressing the X or Y button on the ground, Sonic and Blaze can rush forward and plow through enemies while depleting the Tension Gauge in Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure.
In Sonic Unleashed
By pressing the X button or the Square button, depending on the console, Sonic can rush forward and plow through enemies while depleting the Ring Energy Meter in Sonic Unleashed. Called the Sonic Boost rather than the Burst Dash, the main differences are that it is faster, is powered by gaining Rings, and can be used in midair.
