From Sonic Retro

Revision as of 04:58, 16 November 2008 by Tweaker (talk | contribs) (more aliases + clarifying paragraph)

Naofumi Hataya, born November 13 in Saitama, Japan, is a musician and composer working for Wave Master. He graduated from Rikkyo University, where he played in a band. Though Hataya did not want a career in music, he was looking to improve his skills, so he sought a job at a music-related company. In 1992, he took a job at SEGA, and the rest is history.

Aliases

Hataya is frequently credited under the aliases Masayuki Nagao, Nao Chan, "N.GEE", and Nagao N. Gee; this is supported by the presence of Toot Toot Sonic Warrior's melody being present in the Green Hills Zone BGM for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (8-bit), despite the game being released nearly a year before Sonic CD. In addition, various similarities can be noted between these names to link them together, despite the absence of a direct musical connection (outside of the 8-bit version of Sonic 2).
