The user is now prompted to press a button to display the title screen menu, and the copyright date is shortened to "©SEGA".

A new menu system, similar to the Mega Drive release, has been added. However, the icon has been changed to Sonic's head from the "lives" HUD.

While originally if you played sounds "03, 03, 03, 0B, 10, 10, 10, 04", you had debug mode enabled and chose "Hidden Palace" in the level select, you would've go to "Proto Palace Zone", but in Sonic Origins, you would go to "Hidden Palace Zone", making "Proto Palace Zone" unused.
