Lyric the Last Ancient^[1] is the main antagonist of Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal.

Character conception

Bob Rafei said that Lyric was chosen to be a snake after considering many other creatures. Lyric being a "timeless archetypal character, and wrapping the technology around him, having an augmented snake" was "compelling for us and stuck with Sonic Team." Along with making him a parallel to the snake in the Biblical Garden of Eden.^[2]
