Super Mecha Sonic is basically a flying reddish-gold Mecha Sonic that shoots fireballs and, after a while, turns back into Mecha Sonic and has to absorb energy from the Master Emerald again. It is the final boss while playing as Knuckles in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
