Depending on your region, you get "Sonic & Tails" or "Sonic & Miles" in the introduction. The final combines the two names and is the same regardless of region.

The title screen is almost identical to the final, but the trademark symbol is missing in all regions, not just Japan. The "1992 SEGA" text is also 8-pixels further to the left. There is also still no options menu to select.

The level select screen is similar to Beta 4 but is a lot less pretty and difficult to read. This is the last known prototype to adopt the "Sonic 1" look.

The ending is in this build, though it's different than in the final. Tails catches Sonic on the wing of the plane, they fly off to the right and then the game starts over.

In the Special Stage, the "Not Enough Rings..." sound is different from the final and remains that way through Beta 6; it was erroneously the "Cool!" sound in Beta 4. In the final, that sound is used in Casino Night Zone boss.

Hidden Palace is still missing, it's still listed on the level select screen but selecting it does nothing.

As in Beta 4, debug mode isn't fully implemented yet. It only displays the counter in the hud, and objects cannot be placed.

It is not possible to transform into Super Sonic without hacking, even with all 7 Chaos Emeralds.

The spike bug is no longer present in this build, making it the first build to fix this bug.
