SonAR is a website that focuses on maintaining backups of clean, unaltered Sonic the Hedgehog ROMs. Initially created by Heran Bago in 2006, it is currently "maintained" by Bann. SonAR's library includes an array of prototype and final releases of Sonic games from the Sega Mega Drive, Game Gear, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, and other systems. The archive does not include backups of games that are exceptionally large in file size, opting to focus mainly on backups of games originally released on cartridges.
