Labyrinth of the Sea

The first zone of Sonic Labyrinth, Labyrinth of the Sky, is a sky-bound area with a checkerboard floor pattern. Common obstacles are slick floor panels, which speed up movement but also makes it difficult to control, and conveyor belts. These features reappear in subsequent levels too; perhaps the most annoying hazards unique to the Labyrinth of the Sky are the glue-spitting Peppepe badniks, who make Sonic squelch to a halt before slowly trundling into the hedgehog to dislodge his keys.

The timer in Acts 1-3 starts off at 60 seconds.

Instruction Manual Description

Welcome to the great wide open! Bumpers and flippers fling you across the maze like a little blue pinball. Springs let you leap to higher levels. Badniks fire sticky wads of glue to slow you down so they can attack.

Enemies

  • Peppepe - Toy ducks that roll along the ground and cough up sticky white puddles. Step in a puddle and Sonic becomes momentarily immobilized.
  • Toriri - Bird bots that jet mindlessly across the board. ("Tori" is Japanese for bird.)
  • Flowawa - Immobile flower bots that spout damage-inflicting spores in all directions.
  • Boss: Mecha Gorilla - The android primate waiting at the foot of Act 4.
