AiAi is a fictional character in the Monkey Ball universe.
His name is relationated with the Daubentonia Madagascariensis, a primate with a strange look from Madagascar, mostly called Aye-Aye.
It was created by Mika Kojima, from the Amusement Vision studio (The Old Sega AM4 studio, and creators of the Daytona Usa Series)
Ai Ai is mostly a child as a character, his first appareance was in 2001. The monkey was born in an original title for the arcade, where the player used the gravity and corners as his advantage. This game was knew as "Monkey Ball", and a remake was released for Nintendo Gamecube as "Super Monkey Ball" later.

About the Original game
Super Monkey Ball, the first home game of the saga, was also, one of the first launch titles for the Nintendo Gamecube.
Appareance
Ai Ai, its a monkey obssesed with Bananas. Its married and lives funny adventures with his family and friends. He is always wearing a Orange Shirt with an white A, he doesnt have a tail, but his ears are exagerated.
Abilities
He has the ability to roll and use the ball he is in. This way, we have seen how he can use the balls to float or to play Bowling or games like that. Outside his ball, he looks like a great deportist and nice driver.
Friends and Allies
He usually lives his adventures with his family, formed by his wife Meemee, a lovely monkey which carries a flower in her hair and wears a pink mini-skirt; and his son Baby, a little monkey that is the fastest of the family.
Also, he is usually hanging out with his best friends Gongon, a muscular monkey which aspires to be the most powerful of the earth; YanYan, a little monkey with the same size as Baby which has fallen in a one-side love with him, and for last Doctor, an old monkey with memory problems, but at the same time he is a great inventor.
Enemies
His main enemie is the Dr. Bad-Boon, an evil thief monkey, which is helped by the help of his assistant to steal every Bananas in Jungle Island. He is also in love with Mee mee, but she's in love with Ai Ai after all.
Curiosities
- When the game spawned on the arcades, the joystick had the shape of a banana.
- AiAi is also the Japanese name of the Monkey Enemy in Sonic 2 which was translated as Coconuts later.
- AiAi was part of the Sega Happy Meals collection in 2003, this toy was also one of the free presents that Sega gave in the E3 of that year.
- He never said anything in an understandeable language, because he talks in a strange language that's subtitled.
