Manual and sprite art for Chopper
Choppers (called "Batabata" in the Japanese manual) are the gnashing piranha fish that leap up from under bridges to attack in Green Hill Zone in the 16-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog. They can be easily destroyed by jumping on them as they come up; one should always be wary of them when one crosses a bridge.
Chopper made a repeat appearance in the bonus Green Hill stage in Sonic Adventure 2. It is very similar to Sonic 2's Masher.
