Back to: Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit) (prototype)/Comparisons.

There is only one Special Stage accessible in this prototype. It is a relatively simple map with no real end state; Sonic just spins for eternity. Sonic can only jump with the C button here - pressing A speeds up the anti-clockwise direction, B the clockwise direction, and pausing and unpausing with Start causes the stage to stop spinning entirely. Edit mode also does not work here.

If Sonic touches this line of red circles, the world will spin rapidly (similarly to when exiting the level in the final game), but after a while this will stop, and pressing a button will put Sonic back at the start of the stage.
