There is only one Special Stage accessible in this prototype. It is a relatively simple map with no real end state; Sonic just spins for eternity. Sonic can only jump with the button here - pressing speeds up the anti-clockwise direction, the clockwise direction, and pausing and unpausing with causes the stage to stop spinning entirely. Edit mode also does not work here.
The Special Stage does not use a unique fade transition when entered in this prototype.
Most of the completed objects appear in the initial area. Goal blocks do nothing, while the up and down blocks function like the and buttons.
If Sonic touches this line of red circles, the world will spin rapidly (similarly to when exiting the level in the final game), but after a while this will stop, and Sonic will be put back at the start of the stage a few seconds later.
