Sonic 1 - Return to the Origin is a hack of Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive by carretero. In this hack, Sonic has to run through the zones backwards, trying to get to the beginning, including having to fight the bosses at the beginning of each third act instead of at the end.
The hack was created with Esrael Sonic Editor II with some hexadecimal modifications for teletransport, water levels in Labyrinth Zone and to unlock the camera scroll in Marble Zone Act 1. It's also one of the first hacks, where the system delay (when you for example get hit so many rings are spreading out) is removed.
