Zeti Zapper

From Sonic Retro

A Zeti Zapper, as depicted in issue #42. Drawn by Tracy Yardley.

The Zeti Zapper is an item that was used in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series by IDW Publishing. It is a device invented by Miles "Tails" Prower as a means of subduing the Deadly Six.

Description

Designed as a flat blue disk-shaped badge with Tails' twin tails on the face, the Zeti Zapper was created by reverse-engineering the Chaos Emerald Siphons that the Deadly Six had used to empower themselves with after having taken over the Faceship during the Metal Virus pandemic. It is attached to a Zeti in the same way, except once it has been placed, the device instead turns the Zeti's electromagnetic powers against them, administering a non-lethal electric shock and effectively disabling them for capture. The device is also fitted with safe-guards to prevent a Zeti from taking it off themselves by force. They have even been programmed to deactivate and break down once the Zeti have been sent back to the Lost Hex.

Tails has created one Zeti Zapper for use on each member of the Deadly Six, as well as a prototype with limited capabilities for demonstration purposes. When attached to a robot, the prototype can block all wireless signals going in or out of the robot, although the initial attachment can be painful.

History

When the Deadly Six regrouped and attacked various towns in issues #41 and #42, Tails demonstrated a prototype model of the Zeti Zapper to Jewel the Beetle via video call, having worked on the device knowing they would have to deal with the Deadly Six eventually. When the Deadly Six launched an attack on Restoration HQ, Tails scrambled as quickly as possible and arrived at the last possible moment, working with Sonic to disable each Zeti with the Zeti Zappers. Once they were deported back to the Lost Hex, the Zeti Zappers all broke down.

Later on, when a foreign command signal took over Belle in issue #49, Tails attached the leftover prototype Zeti Zapper onto her to stop the signal from controlling her. Belle would wear this prototype on her way to Eggperial City, and was able to use herself as a router and use the Zeti Zapper to protect Metal Sonic from the control signal.
