Sparkle as depicted in the Sonic 3 Manual

Sparkle (スパークル) is a small, grenade-like badnik from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 found in Carnival Night Zone. They are often found in small groups in narrow tunnels, and can hang from the ceilings as well as standing stationery on the floor. After a set amount of time, the Sparkle will shoot from one side of the tunnel to the other, emiting two electrical charges as it does so. As long as it isn't travelling or emitting sparks, the Sparkle can be defeated by being jumped on, or by using the Spin Dash.

In the Sonic 3 instruction manual, this badnik is mistakenly referred to as Blastoid, which is the name of another badnik in Hydrocity Zone. The name "Sparkle" comes from the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Official Guide Book.
