Sonic Jam (Game.com) has gone through a few changes over its development process. A couple of the changes are noted below.
Early game design
These images display different aspects that were changed before the final game was compiled.
Various
Looks like a port of Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island was planned but dropped. This image can be found in a promotional booklet included with the system[1].
An earlier screenshot of Sonic & Knuckles which shows a different-looking Mushroom Hill Zone and an earlier HUD. Found on the back of the box[2].
An earlier screenshot of Sonic 2 which not only shows an earlier HUD and Emerald Hill Zone, but an earlier Knuckles sprite. Found on the back of the box[2].
A screenshot of the Special Stage, which shows that the character sprites were much smaller than they are in the final. Found on the back of the box[2].
An early "Act Select" screen which shows Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles.
A cutscene similar to this is in the Mega Drive version of Sonic 3 but seems to have been removed. The Game.com port simply starts the player at the beginning of the level in a standing position.
Sonic running through a vastly different Angel Island Zone, complete with the early HUD.
Sonic getting hit by a Catakiller, Jr. in the early Angel Island Zone.
