An edge connector is a type of electrical connector for use with PC boards. The edge connector is a money-saving device because it only requires a single connector, and they are also difficult to break.
Edge connectors are used by all cartridge-based game systems, the expansion cards in the typical desktop PC, and the Flash media typically used in modern digital cameras. For several years, Intel used edge connectors for its processors, but this proved expensive and impractical for cooling.
