Hoaxes

Hoaxes are a widely publicized falsehood created to deceive its audience with false and often astonishing information, with the either malicious or humorous intent of causing shock and interest in as many people as possible. In the Sonic scene, hoaxes have often taken the form of single screenshots or ROM modifications, presented as actual early versions of Sonic games, either to trick an unsuspecting audience or to showcase an individual's creative talents.
