Rockman Chaos is a cancelled hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (16-bit) by Hayate. It's a Rockman in Sonic crossover, and practically nothing from the original game was to be kept (with certain exceptions). In the game you play as Rockman.EXE (also known as Megaman), battling against Dr. Robotnik. The hack was going to have some new concepts, including collectable weapons, bonus stages, and the implementation of an emblem system. But everything was discarded due to its cancellation.
The only public release is quite unfinished and unstable, therefore it's almost impossible to play it without getting bugs, crashes, or softlocks.
Gameplay
Gameplay in Rockman Chaos is quite complicated but should be easy to get used to. The basic controls are:
- Left/right - move
- C button - jump
- B button - shoot (hold it to charge)
There's also the energy system of the Megaman games, which consists of a life-bar in the left corner. And if you die, you'll be sent to the main menu.
