The Beat Monster^[1] (ビートモンスター^[2]), also known as the TailgatorMedia:TeamSonicRacing Tailgator.png^[3], is Vector the Crocodile's racing car in Team Sonic Racing. It was specially created by Dodon Pa to allow Vector to compete in his Grand Prix competition.

The Beat Monster's base stats.

Personalised specifically for Vector, the Beat Monster sports a large front grille that resembles a crocodile's mouth and a pair of large speakers on its rear. The car is also decorated with various details that are similar to Vector's own appearance and attire, such as gold and three red spikes on the back.

Without any customizations, the Beat Monster has high boost and defense and middling top speed, but poor acceleration and handling. By altering its parts, the player can change the car's performance as well as its appearance.

In other media

Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW comics)

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series by IDW Publishing, the Beat Monster appears as the Chaotix's personal means of transportation. They had first used it when trying to get to Restoration HQ when it was under attack by the Deadly Six in issue #43, only to be stuck in a traffic jam. The second time the car appeared in the comic in issue #48, the car had gotten stuck in traffic again, this time on the way to Central City, so Vector decided to pull the car over and have Charmy fly the Chaotix there.
