- Back to: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (prototype; 1993-11-03)/Comparisons.
The HUD is slightly different. The numbers are blue, and there are little arrows to denote where each player is in the level. The graphics of the latter seem to get corrupted in certain stages however, and don't always do their job that well. The countdown is also larger and in the centre of the screen, rather than slightly to the left.
There is no "FAULT" text if the player starts too early. Some stages let the players fly over the goal post and get a head start.
The speeding up and slowing down items are denoted by "S+" and "S-", respectively, while in the final they're Power Sneakers.
Knuckles can also perform the so-called Drop Dash technique.

The exploit that lets you run across the top of the stage doesn't work in this prototype. This is about as far up as you can go.
