Silver Sonic

Silver Sonic is the metallic robot that Sonic fights in Scrambled Egg Zone on Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Game Gear). Once defeated, Silver Sonic releases the sixth and final Chaos Emerald. This boss is also occasionally referred to as Bionic Sonic, a name popularized by Andrusi, who found it on a card in a pack of Sonic the Hedgehog bubble gum.

The robot from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Game Gear) is an ideal imitation of Sonic, mimicking all of his abilities, although strangely Silver Sonic has a spin dash attack and Sonic does not in that game. When jumping Sonic and Silver Sonic bounce off eachother, making for an fast and hectic battle. Silver Sonic is also equipped with a sharp scissors-type object, which sometimes protrudes from its torso when standing still.

The robot that appears in Death Egg Zone on Sonic 2 for the Sega Genesis is also usually referred to as Silver Sonic. It has three types of movement:

• Run in a direction, slide and turn around, then come back to start of movement
• Curl up into a ball and roll across the screen (similar to Sonic's spindash)
• Curl up into a ball, then jump across the screen

Which of these two robots is "actually" Silver Sonic is under some debate.
