After successfully launching the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, Sega commissioned several projects under different codenames of the planets in the Solar System. These are listed below.

Sega Mercury - the Sega Game Gear
Sega Venus - the Sega Nomad
Sega Earth - Wasn't used, probably due to the fact this wasn;t particularly exotic
Sega Mars - the Sega 32X
Sega Jupiter - a cart based 32bit system that was abandoned in the planning stages. Ran parallel to the Saturn's development
Sega Saturn - the only one from the list to be launched and keep its codename
Sega Uranus - Unknown, possibly unused
Sega Neptune - a 32X/Mega Drive combo unit
Sega Pluto - Unknown, possibly unused

By the time the Sega Dreamcast was planned, Sega had moved on to a new scheme.
