Scratch

Scratch is a fictional robot in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. He is a loyal, yet dim-witted robot who serves Dr. Robotnik throughout the cartoon Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, along with the short, treaded Grounder. He is a tall, roughly humanoid robot with chicken-like features, including "scaled" feet, winglike arms, a feathered tail, and a beak. Scratch seems to be the leader of the three badniks (himself, Grounder, and Coconuts), and is marginally smarter than Grounder, making up for his lack of Grounder's assorted gadgets.

Despite his best efforts, most of Scratch's attempts to capture Sonic and Tails end in complete failure. His constant failure makes Robotnik shout abuse and threaten him most of the time. Scratch is also easily tricked, as is Grounder; Sonic would often appear in disguise, as anyone from an old lady to a pizza delivery guy. Fooled time and time again by the hedgehog, Scratch and Grounder never really stand a chance, and are mainly used for comic effect.

There is no "Scratch" badnik in any Sonic game. Scratch appears to have been loosely based on the Clucker enemy from Sonic 2's Wing Fortress Zone.
