Sonic the Hedgehog is quite popular, and is parodied within a large amount of movies and shows.

Sonic the Hedgehog has appeared in some TV shows.

The X-Files	S03E03	1995-06-10	In the episode "D.P.O." the music for Green Hill Zone can be heard inside an arcade.
Malcom in the Middle	S02E04	2000-11-19	In the beginning of the episode "Dinner Out", Malcom and Stevie are playing Sonic R with weird sound effects.
Tosh.0	S02E16	2010-07-14	Daniel shows footage of a speed run of "Sonic The Hedgehog 2" and tends to do a speed run himself.	120px

Not only has he appeared on Television, he's also made appearances in films.

One scene in Wayne's World has footage from a prototype version of Sonic 1 (specifically, Marble Zone with UFOs).

A person in a Sonic costume appears towards the end of the movie.
