Sonic the Hedgehog: Project Mettrix is an effort to create a platform game engine with the same capabilities as the engine built into Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Project Mettrix has created both DOS and Windows versions of their engine. The engine is written in the C programming language.
Project Mettrix includes a level editor and other tools. Well-written documentation is included.
