- Inspiration: Games which take inspiration from the Sonic franchise are included.
- Unlicensed: Unlicensed games which pretend to be part of the Sonic franchise are not included (as they have existing pages), but games like Sonic Dragon and World Heroes 2 are.

You're probably best uploading Sonic reference screenshots that come from other Sega games to the CDN. Chances are they could be useful for Sega Retro too. --BSonirachi (talk) 14:37, 16 April 2022 (EDT)

Mega Turrican
Sonic isn't actually in the game, so I'm not sure it belongs on this list. I left out Streets of Rage 3 for the same reason. - Hivebrain 19:46, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- I think that if there is Sonic then we should have it. I have no idea of the extent of Sonic's presence in SoR3, but if Sonic is there we might as well include it Nineko 20:12, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- Such things would be better placed on a separate page, e.g. "Deleted references to Sonic in video games". - Hivebrain 20:26, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- That would make sense. If no one else has different opinions I agree with that. Though the one in Mega Turrican isn't deleted, it's just "hidden", so we should think about a good page title. Nineko 20:31, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- Rather than make a whole separate page, could we just make a separate section on this page? - Scarred Sun 21:00, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Sega Pinball
Now, I very well could be misremembering, but I'm 99% sure Sonic appears in all his glory on the Dot Matrix display of at least one if not many of Sega's pinball games. If I can find a good example I assume this would be the page for it...but pinball is skirting the line between videogame and irl game, but since it's not just a painting of Sonic on the side of the machine but a dot matrix VIDEO display, I think it would belong here...again, assuming it's even real in the first place and I'm not just misremembering.
- Good question. These are the kinda questions we run into a lot here tbh. Kinda struggling. For now, they probably belong on this page. But I think I want to say... let's create a dedicated subpage. Pinball's in an entirely different category in medium and form, and for me it makes sense to differentiate them. But then you're getting into what you touched on: does dot matrix categorize pinball as a video game? Technically, probably? But in a real working sense, not really, and for the purposes of presenting information on Sonic Retro, it would likely befit us to separate them regardless.
- For the moment, go ahead and just add them into the list wherever, and just throw a (pinball) after their name in the title field. I'm going to give this some more thought. But I think a subpage on pinball has been coming for a long time coming.
