Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is a sports game released by Sega and Nintendo in November. It was first announced in April. The mascots of both companies, Mario and Sonic, along with supporting characters from each series, are playable in events such as judo, swimming, table tennis and track and field. The game, set to take place at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, is the first official game of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games to be released, with a more realistic sports game to be later released by Sega in 2008.

Mario co-creator Shigeru Miyamoto oversaw a Sega production team for the game's development; one of its two versions was co-developed by TOSE.
