Sonic Chaos, known in Europe and Japan as Sonic and Tails, is one of the better Game Gear games. It was released on November 19, 1993 in Japan, and featured a simotaneous european and north american release on the 23rd of November. Strangely, this title was released in October in Latin America. Not only did this game have great gameplay and some of the best music, this Sonic game dawned the first playable Tails on Game Gear, as well as the first appearence of both Spin Dash and Peel Out on the Game Gear. Also note that this featured two exclusive items: The Rocket Shoes and Pogo springs. This was also the first game to let you control Tails' flight. Sonic Chaos was certianly a revoloutinary game.

Sonic Chaos (Sonic and Tails in Japan) was released for the Game Gear and Master System in 1993. Not only did this game have great gameplay and some of the best music, this Sonic game featured the first playable Tails in a Game Gear game, as well as the first appearence of both Spin Dash and Peel Out on the Game Gear. Also note that this featured two exclusive items: The Rocket Shoes and Pogo springs. This was also the first game to let you control Tails' flight. Sonic Chaos was certianly a revoloutinary game.

Storyline

Robotnik has taken the red chaos emerald, and he's hunting for more. Sonic and Tails must save south island before it is too late.

Gameplay

Characters

You have a choice between Sonic and Tails. Tails is the "easier" story, as he has no special stages and has the ability to fly, rather then peelout. Other then that, there are no differences between the characters.

Emerald Hunting

Unlike the previous two 8-bit Sonics, emeralds were not found in the actual stages. Instead the player would collect 100 rings to enter the special stage, where an emerald would be found. Only Sonic can enter the special stages.

Items

Sonic Chaos features two new items: The Pogo Spring item box and the Rocket Shoes item box. The Rocket Shoes gave Sonic (or Tails) the ability of even more incredible speed and limited flight. Often, this was enough to blaze through the entire stage. The Pogo Spring item box also made a limited appearence here, which were basically springs strapped on to Sonic's (or Tails') shoes, and also lasted a limited time. It gave them an unpresidented jump that let them pass otherwise impossible obstacles. The other items are standard Sonic fare.

Special Stages

One of the two ways to earn emeralds, you get these only when playing as Sonic. Entering the special stages is simple -- collect 100 rings and you will automatically be teleported there. Sonic Chaos is the only Sonic game to feature completely different special stages for each emerald. You collect small and giant rings, worth 1 and 10 rings, respectively.
