Super Knuckles

From Sonic Retro

Greater strength or just a programming error?

"Character specific traits include the ability to withstand attacks that would cost Super Sonic rings (most prominently the attacks from the last boss in Launch Base Zone)"

I'm really not sure if this is intended or just a cause of programming errors in Sonic 3. Heck, even the spiked ice things in ICZ1 can hurt Super Sonic in Sonic 3 alone, which makes no sense at all. All of these are fixed in Sonic & Knuckles, leading me to believe that the final LBZ boss in S3 being able to hurt Super Sonic was just a programming error and not actually intended. There seem to be a lot of places in Sonic 3 where they forgot to put Super Sonic checks - you can even bubble bounce as Super Sonic cos of one of these, so it seems likely this is one of those cases as well.

Just to test it out, I debugged myself to Knuckles' boss arena in LBZ2 as Super Sonic and used PAR codes to fool the game into loading the second Knuckles boss. Obviously it didn't hurt me, but even when I used PAR codes to set the player option and character ID back to Sonic's, the boss still didn't hurt me. I don't really think such examples are proof of greater strength at all, just proof that Sonic 3 alone is riddled with bugs which are fixed in Sonic & Knuckles (and consequently Sonic 3 & Knuckles), hence I've removed this sentence from the article. --Shobiz 08:56, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
