Tell us about yourself!

My name's James Turner, I'm an artist and director from the UK.

What are you known for?

Mostly known as a designer of Pokémon, and art director of various Pokémon games. Also possibly for drawing Kirby fan art on Twitter.

Who is your favorite Sonic character?

My favorite character is Sonic! Fast, blue, stylish shoes…he’s the complete package. A close second is Robotnik. He has a zest for life, always has projects on the go…and I think his achievements in the field of robotics are quite under-recognized.

What was your first encounter with Sonic?

My first encounter with Sonic was being a young gamer when Sonic first made his debut on the Mega Drive / Genesis. It was kind of mind-blowing...until that point platformers looked kind of linear and moved at a leisurely pace...all of a sudden you had a platformer that looked more like a rollercoaster; super fast with wild twists and loops. And Sonic himself was such a cool, distinctive character. He inspired me to draw my own game characters.

Besides this Sonic comic, do you have anything exciting coming up?

I'm co-directing an original game at the games studio I recently co-founded. The game is called 'The Plucky Squire'. If you like the style in which I drew this Sonic comic, you might like the game, since it's drawn in a similar style. That's it!
